Idaho Tree Farm Program’s Annual Fall Field Tour- September 7th, St. Maries, ID

September 7, 2013 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

The Idaho Tree Farm Committee has scheduled the annual Fall Tour for Saturday, September 7th, 2013.  This year’s tour will feature Jim and Jane Thornes’ Tree Farm near St. Maries and will showcase timber management, reforestation, and wildlife enhancement on their forestland.

Jim and Jane were honored as the 2013 “Idaho Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year” in March at the Idaho Tree Farm Program’s annual meeting held in Moscow.

The tour will begin at Jim and Jane’s home at 9 AM with an overview of history and management on their Tree Farm.  At 9:30 we will start out on a tour of some of the areas adjacent to their residence.  We plan to be back at the Thornes’ at noon for a catered lunch and an educational presentation of current Tree Farm activities, on both the national and local level.  We plan to finish by 1:30 PM.

The tour is free.  Directions to the Thornes are: coming from St. Maries, go approx 8 miles south on Hwy 3, take a left on Pettis Peak Rd., go .8 mile and turn right at their Tree Farm sign (791 Pettis Peak Rd.).  If coming from the south on Hwy 3, look for the Pettis Peak Rd. approx 5 miles from Santa Y between mileposts 75 & 76.  Wear appropriate outerwear for field conditions and bring a folding chair to sit on at lunch.  Coffee, donuts, and beverages in the morning and a sack lunch will be provided by the Idaho Tree Farm Committee.

For logistical purposes we are requesting an RSVP so we can get an accurate head count for lunch. Respond to admin@idahotreefarm.org or call Jennifer Childers at (208) 667-4641 by August 26th.
Hope to see you at the Tour!

– Doug Bradetich, Chairman, ITFC
